LOCATION

Australia is located between 27° 00' S latitude and 133° 00' E longitude. Australia is the only country in the whole world

that is also a continent and an island. It is situated

between the South Pacific and Indian Ocean.

Australia is often referred to as being ‘down under’

as it lies entirely within the southern hemisphere.

Australia is considered as the flattest and driest

continent on earth, despite Antarctica. It has an

over-all population of about 24 million people

mostly situated within the south eastern quarter

of the country. In area, it ranks as the sixth largest country and smallest continent.  The name Australia comes from the Latin word Australis, meaning southern.
